Tamatar ka Cut

Ingredients

• 1 kg tomatoes, cut and boiled

• 1/2 coconut, milk extracted

• a dash of imli (tamarind) juice

• 1/2 tsp jeera (cumin) powder

• 1/2 tsp dhania (coriander) powder

• 1/2 tsp mirchi (chilli) powder

• 1/2 tsp haldi (turmeric) powder

• 1 big onion

• 50 g chana (gram) powder

• 100 ml oil

 

For bagar (tempering)

• a pinch of jeera

• 1 sukhi mirchi (red chilli)

 

Method

Make a pulp of the tomatoes once cooled.

Make a paste of the onion by lightly roasting with the chana powder and mashing it.

Take a handi, add oil.

Add the tomato pulp.

Add the onion paste, then the masala powders. Keep stirring till the gravy reduces in consistency.   

Add the coconut milk and check for taste.

Add imli juice and cook well.

Add bagar on top and serve hot.
