Atria Mall Bombay's New Gourmet Destination

Atria Mall

Bombay's New Gourmet Destination

It has been showering new restaurants in Bombay, and not just in the busy and bustling neighbourhoods. So now that Atria has become a new gourmet destination of Bombay, we join in the excitement to bring to you a review of our favourites.

Mustard

Goa’s favourite Bengali-French cuisine restaurant Mustard was probably first among the new restaurants that brought a new vibrancy to the mall with its launch in the ground floor of Atria. The relaxed eatery is designed with a classic French vibe with open pink windows, wooden tables, floral upholstery and gentle colours adorning the interiors. The uncluttered Mustard has successfully attempted to maintain the quaint and tranquille ambience of a Goan bungalow in the bustling city of Bombay. Mustard, named after the common ingredient between French and Bengali food, features the two cuisines in their exclusive light, without forceful fusions. The restaurant serves classic Bengali dishes like dal puri, fish curry and rice, bhapa doi and malpua along with a variety of modern dishes like Bengali Mezze Platter served with a Baqarkhani Roti, Palong Chhanar Kofta, a preparation of paneer kofta encased in spinach leaves served in a gravy and Aam Doi for dessert. The French menu too is extensive, with delicious salads including Tartare de Tomates and Roasted Beetroot Salad. Other French offerings include Cheesy Polenta Croquettes, Olive Tepenade and Spoon Rabbit with Roosemary Jus. It is a difficult choice between Absinthe Ice Souffle and Warm Chocolate Tart for dessert. After a sumptous meal come the nightcaps, an interesting menu of post-meal cocktails including a brandy based Mishti Doi and Saffron Negroni, a saffron infused martini. Each dish here has a heartening story behind it, from the roots of the dish to the way it was created. Bringing together food from two rich culinary cultures, Mustard very easily became one of Bombay's new favourite restaurants, while also making Atria Mall a lively spot again.

Dal Khichdi Afgani Style too is a relaxing humble option here. Order fascinating drinks like the unspiked Malabar Mojito served in a whole coconut, or Mud Pot that looks like a pot of brownie, but is actually a surprising mocktail. Mizu

Adding to the fine-dine experience at this opulent mall, Vedant Malik launched his restaurant Mizu, bringing the concept of modern Asian izakaya dining to Bombay for the first time. An izakaya is a typical, casual Japanese pub where people relax after work with a tipple or two. While the concept is Japanese to its core, the food here at Mizu interestingly, has a touch of Indian spices and flavours to it. Chef Lakhan Jethani has created his own interpretation of the dishes that have their roots in the Japanese cuisine. Chef Lakhan is particular about maintaining perfection in his ingredients, and for this, Mizu has outsourced an exclusive hydroponic greenhouse to grow a few special Japenese herbs for the restaurant. While you're at Mizu, sit back at the comfortable lavish setting and relax with a glass of Pineapple Togarashi, a drink that is a burst of flavours. Enjoy Japanese small plates that go well with your drinks, with offerings like Cold Noodle Salad and Local Seafood Tempura; also try the Baos, Gyozas– pan-seared dumplings, Ramen, Donburi– rice bowls and other one-pot group meals. Don't miss the desserts, the Matcha Aduki Apple is beautifully plated, and is as delicious as it looks.
