Green Pea Daal Recipe
Haryo Kearu Daal
(Green Pea Lentils)
Ingredients
• 1 kg green peas
• 1 cup sliced onions
• 2 tbsp ginger paste
• 3 tbsp chopped garlic
• 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
• 1/2 tsp clove powder
• 1/2 tsp small cardamom powder
• 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
• 4 tbsp ghee
• salt to taste
Method
Puree the peas with a cup of water in the blender and keep aside. Heat ghee in a pan and fry the onions till a golden-brown, keep aside. Fry garlic in the same ghee for 1 minute, then add the pea paste to the pan and stir well, add turmeric powder, ginger paste and salt, cook for 5 minutes. Add 4 cups water and cook till the peas are cooked thoroughly. Add the cinnamon, clove and cardamom powder and cook for 2 minutes adjusting the daal to a thick consistency, adding water if necessary.
Garnish with the fried onions and serve hot.
