The beach life arrests one’s senses as the rhythmic waves crash upon pristine white sands, a lull and intoxication sets in and time sort of stops in its tracks. Yazu, Goa, completes this nirvanic bliss with carefully curated cocktails and Oriental offerings, wishing one to never leave this self-contained Shangri-la. Enter the premise past a large manicured lawn to the beckoning beach in front, it makes you forget the purpose of this fine-dine visit.
A glance at the cocktail menu has the much-demanded classics, however, the Wasabi Martini hints a notice. A dollop of wasabi paired with fresh and spicy flavours mixed in a litchi-infused vodka. The riot of sweet and spice intersperses well with the Som Tam. A raw papaya salad mixed with crunchy peanuts, green beans, cherry tomatoes and a spicy dressing. For the seafood eaters, add shrimp. The Truffle Edamame Dumplings with fresh soybean scented with white truffle oil is a gourmet delight. Supper entails the Xiao Long Pork Bao, their signature soup dumpling with rich aromatic flavours emitted through the carefully cooked broth.
Pace yourself, the portions are meant to be shared and the Sushi Show deserves space in your gut. The Uramaki Sushi, sometimes called an inside-out roll, has prawn tempura with creamy salmon served with avocado, cucumber, topped with salmon tartare and togarishi sauce.
As a cool wind passes by, you can get up and stroll about. The setting sun at this open-air restaurant gives you a perfect sundowner venue. And the staff is friendly and astute with a hospitable smile in tow.
Then the Hot Chocolate Soufflé presents itself. Molten chocolate soufflé paired with Madagascar vanilla bean gelato... you will be smiling and asking for seconds.
