Though a long-standing fine-dine which has been welcoming the crème de la crème of Bombay, and of course, the office-goers of town, for 18 years now, Royal China adapts well with the changing trends in dining. As it does so, it carries with it an air of ease and simplicity. With another location in Bandra, and a few in other cities, too, owner, Neville Vazifdar, keeps his hand steady as he aims not for accolades and awards as much as keeping the quality of his standalone up to the mark. They’ve kept the regulars in place, that Roasted Peking Duck and those dumplings like the Truffle Edamame and Prawn & Chive, for sure, and introduced newer concepts such as the Dim Sum lunch with your choice of any two Dim sums per person.

You can sit in languor while the signature Lotus Leaf Rice makes its way to the table. Noodles lovers can opt for the Crispy Fried Noodles, or just get a portion of each to share heartily. You can’t miss out on the Cantonese Honey Roast Pork, succulent and sinful, but if you really can’t, then the Royal China Exotic Vegetables are perfect to feast on, as are the steamed scallops, oh so fresh and juicy.

For a sweet finish, you could do the namesake mud cake but the fried/steamed custard bun is certainly worth it, especially for a first-timer.
