Hakkasan
Hakkasan
In one word, Hakkasan is sensual. In its vibe, its dark interiors and its food. Michelin-starred Cantonese fare in a modern avatar made its way to our shores in 2011 and has since held the aficionados in its grip devotedly so. The London import has always remained in the top Chinese restaurants of Bombay, fine dining, lush and worth its weight, and continues to rake in the recognition globally, what with Dubai’s first Michelin Guide awarding a star to the Hakkasan at The Palm - Atlantis.
Here in Bombay, the scent of jasmine stays the same when you enter but with each visit, you find something new to treat the taste buds to. Yet for diners like ourselves, the favourites are what we can’t go wrong with, what keeps us coming back for more. The crunch of that Crispy Duck Salad, the aroma of the Hakka Steamed Dim Sum Platter, the sizzle of the Wok-fried New Zealand Lamb Chops and the simple flavours of the Grilled Chilean Seabass with Chinese Honey are what we’re talking about. Try the Carrot Cake as well, a revelation for the senses. A meal at Hakkasan – for the cocktail lover, that is – is incomplete without the classics: the Smoked Negroni and the Hakka; one an innovative take on the humble negroni and the other a vodka drink with a burst of tropical tastes.
Hakkasan is high-end in its design, food and service, and in its attractive dessert array. Chocolate lovers, rejoice for you have the Chocolate Berry Sphere and the Delice with Belgian chocolate ice-cream. Non-chocolate dessert lovers, there’s plenty for you, too, please excuse our weakness for the cacao.
A meal for two would be approximately Rs 4500 + taxes.
