A young woman lilts to classics as you settle into a booth that’s plush brown leather amidst dark wood interiors and soft lighting that really puts you in the mood for a rustic steak. Seafood, other meats, salads are served, too, at World Cut Steakhouse.

For us, it had to be steak. Quite a conundrum for the panoply on offer, with premium grill selections to meats that are simply raw, and special offers inclusive of Tomahawk Sundays and So-Wellington Sundays, a Raise the Steaks Brunch, too. When the gold of the earth is in season – Nov to Dec – truffle is infused into the a la carte menu and WCS gets another gold star.

Pick your ale or your vino and choose from the Seared Foie Gras or the Grilled Prawn appetisers. The Wagyu Beef Tataki with sesame oil and ponzu sauce is the way we would go when dining at WCS for its juicy prime meat that puts Japanese back at the top of our global cuisine favs. Entrées dish out a finger-licking serving of short ribs that are smoked and complemented with a parsnip mouselline and pickled Asian pears. As well as a Mushroom Risotto for the vegetarian at WCS. Quite a bit of irony there, but the vegetarian diner will not be shortchanged on the taste factor, for sure.

There’s plenty from the grills like the grass-fed tenderloin from Australia and the USA prime, along with sauces and sides that go amorously well. A spattering of peppercorn sauce and a spoonful of the Signature Side Salad dressed in coconut with heirloom tomato will do you good.
