Aboard The Caravela
High stakes, higher thrills. UPPERCRUST rolls aboard India’s only  live gaming casino, and goes cruising down the Mandovi and into the waters of the Arabian Sea.

There is never a dull moment in Goa, if you don't want it. After you have soaked in the sun, relaxed sufficiently on the beach and the stars start to peep out in the night sky it is time to head toward the Mandovi River, the Caravela is docked. It's Las Vegas in Panjim. Oh! for the thrill of live gaming on American Roulette. Black Jack, Stud Poker, Baccarat, Pontoon, Flash and slot machines - the complete works.

Caravela, which can accommodate 300 people is a 215 feet long, class VII, centrally air-conditioned cruise ship which sets sail at specified hours. There is a sunset cruise, a dinner cruise or even an all day cruise. The prices vary from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1800. It's a rather picturesque sojourn as the boat makes its way past the old secretariat (Adil Shah's Palace) fishing boats and charming old villas dotting the main Panjim road, and then into the Arabian Sea.

At the Casino the gaming sessions are all conducted in internationally accepted standards by professionally trained dealers. Foreign currency, travellers cheques and credit cards are accepted. But you have to be suitably attired. You can get in there in shorts, capris, sleeveless shirts (males), or slippers and floaters.

There is a multi-cuisine buffet restaurant, as well as a private gaming room, even crèche services are available at the jetty. And if you are the kind who likes to take a breather in between each gaming session which hopefully places in front of you many colorful chips, you can take in very entertaining dances by  very adept Russian dancers..
