China House

China House

When you step into this grand restaurant, it feels like you are stepping into a Chinese Emperor's home. China House exudes warmth above all, and once you’ve tasted the chow here, the belly will feel it, too. From handmade Dim sums to signature mains, and desserts and wines to offer the entire experience of dining Sichuanese, you will be spoilt for choice, along with an ambience that integrates interactive glass show kitchens into a multiple-seating layout with table booths, PDRs and so on. Our pick, the al fresco area, for a relaxed evening.

Sit down for a meal as Master Chef Ya Jun Zhang works his wonders to bring a casual feel to the traditional fare of Sichuan to your table. Beggar’s Chicken, hand-pulled Dan Dan Noodles, Peking Duck, Black Pepper King Crab, Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumplings are just to whet your appetite. But that Beggar’s Chicken… wrapped in clay and lotus leaves, the aroma of the baked chicken wafting through from the kitchen to your table.

There’s a sizzler menu as well with options like Treasure Vegetables with Chestnuts and Mushrooms in Black Pepper Sauce and the Pork in Logoma Chilli Sauce if you’re looking for a hot meal-in-one. Else, the a la carte is exhaustive enough with dishes like Eggplant with a Spicy Garlic Sauce, Wok-fried King Crab, Pot-stickers Filled with Coriander and Shitake Mushroom and delectable Fried Rice with Smoked Bamboo Shoots. Lamb meat aficionados in the house? Try the Lamb Shank Hot-pot Served with Coriander Bun, sinful but worth every bite. The Peking Duck, you ask? Served straight from wood-fired ovens with a touch of Chinese condiments making it a strong contender with the lamb.

Browse around a while, at Grand Hyatt’s award-winning restaurant and make space for dessert! The Imperial Dessert Platter is not for one, for sure, and the Jasmine Tiramisu is certainly not to be shared. The tiramisu is served with an orange vanilla ice-cream that renders this traditional Italian delight lost to the Chinese well enough. Check for seasonal fresh fruit, when in season, with sorbet to cool you down after the warmth of a China House meal.

Whether it’s for a post-work chill scene – take a look at the beverage and wine menu, listing out fine reds, whites and sparklings, liqueurs, spirits and even ice teas and coolers like thandai (not sure how this fits in with traditional Chinese fare) or a celebratory meal with the fam, come home to China House.
