Gaylord
Gaylord
When you say the word iconic to refer to the restaurants of Bombay, this SoBo establishment by the Kwality Group pops up, with its vast space – indoor and outdoor seating, classic white wrought iron patio furniture and a gourmet bakery section which can send a pastry and puff person into a real tizzy with its variety. Since 1956, Gaylord has sat pretty on the street leading to Churchgate Station, serving diners with quality cuisine, from Indian to Continental and tandoor specialities like the Makhmali Khumb (mushroom) and the Tandoori Pomfret. And that Gaylord Breakfast is one for the champions, with eggs, bacon, French fries, toast, tea or coffee, the works.
Lunch or dinner at Gaylord will have you biting into the tender Lasooni Fish Tikka, the juicy and crispy Dahi Cheese Rolls, the creamiest Veg Kulfi Kabab, the innovative pressure-cooked Cooker da Kukkad and one of our choicest on the menu, the tomato-based chicken otherwise known as Hanky Shanky Korma. There’s something about a Club Sandwich here, served with coleslaw and wafers, and the Russian Salad in its classic style, with that cherry in place. Subz, Murg, Gosht, Machhli, Biryanis, Rotiyaan, Sizzlers, Bounty of the Ocean and Classics like the Chicken a la Kiev and Lamb Stroganoff, all work in delicious tandem at Gaylord. As do the rasmalai, phirni, gulab jamun, kulfi, sizzling brownie and caramel custard.
Finish off your meal with a coffee with cream or a flavoured joe, hazelnut or chocolate, or one of their speciality teas, maybe the Mystical Assam if that’s your cuppa, or a timeless English Breakfast.
