All-day dining and party hotspot Drunken Teddy turned a year older and with it, sports a new look and a revamped menu. While the interiors have only been given a minor spruce up, their menu has a whole new set of 'sip and bite'.
First up we had a cute version of the Watermelon Feta Salad that comprised alternating discs of watermelon and chickpea-based patties. We loved our deep purple Jamuntini, a gin martini with a jamun-based kick. The Chicken Souvlaki came with mini pitas and a refreshing tzatziki sauce, and was a well-balanced savoury starter. The Truffle Scented Junglee Mushroom was a tandoori cheese take on stuffed mushrooms that may perhaps overpower any truffle aroma. Pepper Chicken Roast was as peppery as promised and we had to take deep sips of the Victoria Tangerine, a citrusy gin cocktail for respite from the heat.
For desserts, we tried their deconstructed tiramisu that featured a coffee sponge, coffee Mascarpone cream and a meringue ending the meal on a curious if ambivalent mode. Are classic desserts like tiramisu best left alone? The proof, as always, is in the pudding.
