There are foodies, and then there are hardcore foodies. Their appetites are are said to be so legendary, that food for normal human beings wouldn’t suffice for them. They would polish off large plates of food in minutes, and so, to commemorate their greatness, food challenges were born. In this issue, we bring you the Top 5 food challenges from Social, Light House Cafe, Elementaria Bakery Cafe, Mini Punjab Lakeside and D:OH! in Bombay which are guaranteed to challenge the hardcore foodie hidden in you all along!



Social

Think you can handle spicy food? Well think again. Aptly named, Social’s Death Wings are luscious buffalo wings coated with an extremely spicy sauce which can make you sweat just by looking at them! In the food challenge, which is available throughout the day, a diner has to finish a plate full of the red hot spicy wings without drinking water. The winner will get a well-deserved lemonade on the house. We can assure you, you will need a big pitcher of lemonade to douse your burning tongue! But there is a catch! You cannot share your plate of wings with anyone. So sharpen your knives and forks and get ready to set the table on fire!

Light House Cafe

Light House Cafe is a haven for food challenge lovers. Currently, there are three challenges in which you can participate and proclaim your love for food. What’s more, the winner gets cash prizes! The first challenge is perfect for pizza lovers. The diner has to finish an entire deep dish pizza within 20 minutes and will win a voucher for INR 25,000! It's not as easy as it sounds. The pizza has five to six layers of cheese and weighs three times more than an ordinary eight inch pizza. The next challenge on the list involves Bhut Jolokia or Ghost Pepper, one of the spiciest chillies in the world, and pasta. The pasta dish containing Bhut Jolokia needs to be eaten within 5 minutes! But that’s not all! The participant is not supposed to drink water for the 10 minutes after polishing off the dish. The winner will get Rs 2,500! If savoury food challenges are not your thing and if you have a BIG sweet tooth, then the third challenge is for you. A slice of cheesecake will be presented on a plate, and the participant’s hands will be tied together with a handcuff! He or she needs to eat the cheesecake only with their mouths! If the cheesecake is finished within 30 seconds then the participant will  be awarded with Rs 25,000, ut if eaten between 30-60 seconds, then they will win INR 2,500. What’s better than having your cheesecake and eating it too?

Elementeria Bakery Cafe

Known for its amazing desserts, Elementeria Bakery Café presents a cake challenge unlike any other. The participant is supposed to finish a 42-layered chocolate cake slice within 10 minutes! That's right, 42 layers! One cake slice looks like a towering monstrosity and weighs almost 1.5 kg! The entire cake weighs over 6 kg. The gooey chocolate cake includes decadent layers of chocolate ganache, almond and hazelnut praline. If one completes the challenge then the cake is complimentary for them. However, if they are unable to finish, then the participant has to pay Rs 1,050! Finishing this cake is no piece of cake, that's for sure!

Mini Punjab’s Lake Side

Thalis are one of the best meals to have. Not only do they serve a variety of foods together, but you also get a delicious and wholesome meal out of it. Mini Punjab’s Lake Side has set a food challenge which can perhaps only be won by wrestlers. Called the Dara Singh Thali challenge, this thali contains over 40 dishes together! It is so massive and heavy that it takes two people to carry it! Since it takes time to prepare the thali, the participant needs to make a booking for the thali at least a day in advance. Available in veg (Rs 2,400) and non-veg (Rs 3,200) options, the thali includes four beverages, three kinds of chaats, homemade pickles and white butter, one soup, three starters, 11 mains, seven breads and seven desserts! And there is still more! It takes five to six people to finish this massive thali, however, if the participant finishes it alone, then he or she will get it for free. D:OH!

The WTF Burger challenge at D:OH! is not meant for the weak-hearted. Weighing almost 1 kg, the heavy burger is surely the talk of the town. The patty of the burger is 1 pound heavy. Layered with vegetables, cheese and a variety of sauces, this burger is truly one of its kind. Anyone who manages to finish the burger in under 10 minutes will be declared the winner! If failed to do so, then the participant has to pay for the burger which costs about Rs 650. Available in veg and non-veg options, this challenge is available throughout the week for foodies who dare to accept.
