Adding to Bangalore’s vibrant bar culture which finds space for sprawling breweries and cosy bars with superb drinks is Bar Sama, the new-age neighbourhood bar in Ulsoor. Well-crafted cocktails and Thai food that hits the spot are what you should go here for, plus a great vibe.

Bar Sama has recently launched a lunch service at its Dining Room. Curated by Chef-Partner Vichita Kumar the new food menu offers an array of Thai-inspired dishes with playful twists and flourishes. The Mushroom Fried Rice, packed with shiitake and king oyster, tossed in chu-chi curry paste, has a surprising dollop of Brunost. You could try also the silky Wonton Hung Lay Curry, where the wontons are filled with pumpkin and mustard greens and arrive in a red-hot chilli curry. It’s served with nam prik salad and jasmine rice. The signature dish from the menu is Bar Sama’s Roast Chicken Khao Soi with crisp roast chicken over egg noodles, immersed in a fragrant curry broth, finished with fresh greens and the local condiment of buttermilk-soaked, sun-dried green chillies. The Bum Bai Curry, a braised lamb shank, comes with a spicy red chilli sauce and pancakes.

The bar serves up drinks like Cashew Later, an ode to beaches and warm nights, and Tide Caller with kokum, a take on the dirty martini.
