Say goodbye to stretch marks with these home remedies by Dr Nirmala Shetty to moisturise and nourish your skin.

Little tears in the tissue beneath the skin surface, initially showing up first as red marks which later on turns into silvery white scars are known as stretch marks. They are generally caused by rapid fluctuations in weight and more prominent when the skin is dry or lacking in moisture.  Moisturising your skin daily is a good ritual which could help control stretch marks to a great extent.
By using oils and natural products you can increase the skin elasticity and suppleness and thus minimise the scars. One should try using these before going on a diet or a fast.

Almond-Honey-Turmeric Lotion
½ cup sesame oil
½ cup almonds
½ cup honey
1 tsp wild turmeric

Grind the above ingredients into a lotion like paste and massage this all over body before your bath. Leave it on for some time and then wash it off first with milk and then water.

Masoor Dal-Sesame Seeds Paste
1 cup red masoor dal
1 tsp wild turmeric
½ tsp sesame seeds
½ tsp honey or glycerine
½ cup sesame oil

Blend all of these to form a thick paste. This paste should be massaged and rubbed all over the areas generally prone to stretch marks and left on till it is semi-dry. Then it should be rubbed off without water.  The area is then to be massaged with some milk and rinsed with luke warm water to which some rose water has been added. This treatment not only helps reduce stretch marks but also makes the skin soft and supple.

Aromatic Massage Oil
100 ml wheatgerm oil
5 drops frankincense oil
5 drops tangerine oil

Mix all in a glass bowl and massage all over the body or simply on those areas prone to stretch marks.
Wheatgerm rich in vitamin E helps in reducing scarring, frankincense has a rejuvenating effect and the tangerine oil which is rich in vitamin C controls or rather maintains the skins elasticity.
This oil could be stored in a glass bottle when made in a large quantity. However, those with breathing troubles or are asthmatic should avoid it.
Stay natural, stay beautiful!
