When Sashi Cheliah was crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia, all eyes were on him to see where his journey takes him. From the Black Ops uniform to a chef coat, it has been an interesting time in his life. Making his footprint in India, he has been travelling, experiencing the street food and unique flavours that each city offers.
It is the Supermom Superfood challenge that brings Sashi to Bombay. Organised by Hafale, the event, in its third year now, inspires mom-chefs across India to innovate and introduce recipes that are tasty and healthy. This year, with the theme of superfoods, the finalists were given yogurt as a secret ingredient using which they created some unique dishes.
The competition was judged by Sashi, who gave the winner’s title to Divya Jain whose rendition of ragi brownie with raspberry cheesecake, hazelnut crumble, raspberry coulis with toile was delicious in taste, unique in concept and healthy for the young ones. Facilitated with the title of Supermom 2019, she won Häfele’s enviable range of kitchen products.
Following the competition, Sashi presented a masterclass for the participants and all those who attended the event, where he demonstrated a live preparation of the Spanish Paella with chicken and shrimp. Giving many tips on how to make the best use of leftovers commonly found in the refrigerator, Sashi made this dish using leftover, cooked rice.
