It's 6th, not 5th Avenue, but this resto-bar has food that's right up your street. Bar food doesn't get much better. Think Pongal Arancini so-so-crisp curled over lavish creamy pongal; ghee-tossed Gun Powder Idlis stroked just right with podi and so light they fly off your plate. There's Mustard or Sun-dried Tomato Paneer Tikka that's pert and painfully perfect; delicate Melagu Kaalan Quesadillas and Mushroom Albondigas; and Peri Peri Baby Corn like a sheaf of sleek pocket-sized rockets presented at your table. Ah, what explosions of flavour on the palate- but feel that terrific texture too! Young Chef Sarvanan can do a penne as well as he can biryani and go on weekdays when the bar is quieter to avail of near-gastronomic elegance. Of course if something looks, feels and tastes like it walked out of a Michelin-starred restaurant then Chef Sarvanan confesses it's because his mentor Manikandan Vijaykumar (of the famous M&N Consultants) renowned for his culinary artistry, technical pernickety and plating panache was in the kitchen. But Chef M refuses credit, championing his team alone. As for Amar, the manager, yes you might recognise him as the mixologist who opened the ITC Grand Chola where the Australian mixologist stole the thunder because she was, well, Australian but you always sought that Indian boy who shook the sharpest cocktails. Amar still does, when not managing operations. And no, you haven't had too many cocktails, there really is a steward called Boris Becker who makes you boom-boom Bacardi cocktails, unless blowing you away with wilder innovations.
