Via Bombay - Bringing the 90s Back
Via Bombay
In concept, Via Bombay is all about bringing the 90s Bombay back with a bang. The restaurant also focuses on celebrating the cuisines of all the cultures that reside in the cosmopolitan city. Everything from soups to chakanas to thalis can be found at this place. While some might think that
this will result in a chaotic menu, others would be pleased to read the variety of choices offered.
Maharashtrian and Gujarati Platters are the heroes of the starters' section. The Maharashtrian Platter comes with authentic sabudana, kothmir, dal and batata vadas and is served with an assortment of chutneys. The Gujarati Platter serves the staples such as dhokla, fafda, khandavi, kachori and patra ni wadi. The Amritsari Fish Tikka and Andhra Fried Chicken will woo the non-vegetarians. The mains serve the usual assortment of curries and sabjis, but it is the dessert section that catches our attention. Lonavala Chikki Ice Cream is a favourite at our table. The creatively named Amar Akbar Anthony is a delicious combination of three halwas– carrot, doodhi and beetroot.
The creative names do not stop at desserts. Cocktails such as Gannewalla's Peg, Chowpatty Chooski, Bombay Gulaab and Patiala Lassi are whimsical and pose as great conversation starters. Do visit Via Bombay at least once dear reader, and let us know what you think about the menu. Is it confusion or competent?
