For me the monsoon is the best time of the year, especially in Goa, where I really like to be. I am nostalgic about that because that’s where and when I opened my first restaurant. Goa in the rains. I absolutely love it here, the sound of the rain, the smell of the air and me walking and wandering about with frizzy hair! Yup, that’s what the humidity does to my hair, but I am not complaining at all!

My favourite pastime in the rain is to cook up hearty soups for my son, play board games with him, and generally hang out together at home, which is rather cosy and comforting.

Among my favourite ingredients I like to cook with are stone fruits. Which I feel are highly underrated. There are a lot of things you can do with this; pickling, fresh salads, turning them into purees and using them for desserts as well.

The recipes I've shared with UpperCrust are a really beautiful reflection of the experiences I have had over the last few years. I am currently hosting a pop-up in Singapore which is called Culinary Masses at GastroBeats and it showcases dishes that are true reflections of dishes that have influenced me from across India and how I take them and adapt them into my cooking style in all the menus I do around the world.
