Bollywoods Tastebuds

No king-sized asparagus, giant-size spoonfuls of caviar or other ambrosia for our tinsel-ville celebrities. Nor is Dom Perignon a must to wet their throats.

TANUJ GARG zeroed in on their food habits and saw that most of them are habituated to routine ghar ki roti... except when theyre really hell-bent on pampering their tastebuds.

SHAH RUKH KHAN
I enjoy food, but dont believe in a particular course of eating or diet or cuisine. I have lots of Pepsi and can binge on tandoori chicken and noodles. Ive never concentrated on health food for the simple reason that Im healthy and in shape.

JUHI CHAWLA
I believe in eating well. Im not fussy about food as long as its edible and well-cooked. I like traditional full meals... dal, rotis, sabzi and rice with lots of salads and dahi. Im a complete veggie and an ice-cream freak. When theres no time to grab a bite, I have an ice-cream!

AAMIR KHAN
I relish Indian food more than any other cuisine. I can cook... omelettes, fried eggs, scrambled eggs! I eat production unit food, but must have dinner at home. It could be veg or non-veg. Chicken, fish, aloo, gobi, baingan, paneer.

TWINKLE KHANNA
Im extremely health conscious. I have a very light breakfast, eggs and black coffee. No juices, though fruits are fine. I must have at least one dal-roti meal daily. Otherwise, I eat chicken and fish sandwiches and salads with a generous amount of paneer or mushroom toppings.

GOVINDA
Im passionate about food, can try out everything, but love shudh paushik ghar ka khana. Dal, chawal, aloo, bhindi. I have a sweet tooth for Indian mithai.

PREITY ZINTA
My ideal meal is kadhi chawal. But I also love Italian and Chinese food. I am the best pasta cook in the world! My preferred food joints are Konkan Cafe for its mouth-watering appams and Shiv Sagar for its pav bhaji. But theres also Indigo and Trim With Taste. I dont diet since Im very regular with my work-outs.

MANOJ BAJPAI
I eat to live. Food is low on my priority list. All my life Ive had a frugal and simple diet. The conventional dal, roti, sabzi and chaval. Id never tasted any kind of cuisine beyond that. But now Ive been exposed to all kinds of foods, though my favourite is still desi khana.

MAMTA KULKARNI
I can eat seafood any time of the day, spicy and full of masalas. My breakfasts are porridge or cornflakes with two slices of toast. I have chicken, fish or any other vegetable for lunch. And a very heavy dinner.

RINKE KHANNA
Can you believe, I am fond of digestive biscuits! I take great care of myself. At home, all my meals are cooked in low-fat mineral oil. Now and then, I pamper myself with rich, oily food. But tea, coffee, sodas and colas are out. I can live on salads and soups for the rest of my life.

SUNNY DEOL
I lead a healthy life. Spicy and oily foods are not my taste at all. My food is more or less bland, and I prefer vegetarian food. I might eat chicken once in a blue moon. I neither drink nor smoke and I avoid soft drinks too. My ultimate food is simple ghar ka khana. A bowl of salad, two vegetables and dal. Sweets, I love!

BOBBY DEOL
Although I like ghar ka khana, Im quite a connoisseur of food. I love experimenting with new cuisines and restaurants. At home, I can cherish dal and rice. And I can pig out on sweets for the rest of my life. Jalebis, gulab-jamuns, ras-malai and ice-cream!

MAHIMA CHAUDHARY
I freak out over authentic Punjabi cuisine... sarson ka saag and makkai ki roti. I dote on junk food. Burgers and fast food joints are my hangouts. I am a vegetarian, but I eat eggs. I love yellow dals and karela, but Im fussy about eating bhindi, baingan and black dal.

AKSHAY KUMAR
My breakfast is Bournvita and eggs! For lunch, I have boiled leafy vegetables with plain rotis. I eat a lot of fruits. My dinner is a light Punjabi meal with generous helpings of salads, sprouts and curds. Having worked as a cook in Bangkok, I have eaten every possible food.

JACKIE SHROFF
I am a veggie at home. I love potatoes, fruit, curd, walnuts and peanuts. No meat. Outside, my diet is fish and desi chicken. I am a religious water drinker. Six glasses as soon as I wake up. No drinks at home, at parties - yes. I love Thai green curry and rice. I can cook myself... dal, pastas, brinjals and potatoes. In between meals, I eat vada pav, though it is very oily.

SUMAN RANGANATHAN
I am flexible about eating. But must have two glasses of juice and a bowl of fresh fuit every day. I am a health freak and work out religiously. I relish seafood and sweets and have them at every opportunity.

SHILPA SHETTY
I freak out on mangoes, but dont go overboard with my food. I have been blessed with a good body but I never take it for granted. I love cooking them, especially pastas and anything thats simple and easy. I can live on Italian and Chinese food.

ANIL KAPOOR
No matter where Im shooting, I have home-cooked food on the sets. Lunch and dinner is generally light, vegetarian food - dal, rotis, vegetables and rice. Sometimes I like to have Continental baked dishes too. No sweets. I also love Gujarati thalis. They are simply great.

ARBAAZ KHAN
My meals at home are dahi and rotis. I eat out once in a while, provided its Indian food. I love dal-chawal and can live on it.

RAVEENA TANDON
I love binging on soup, popcorn, grapefruit, melon and papaya. My lunch is a wholesome, simple Indian meal. Outdoors, I adjust myself to the unit food. Oily food is strictly out. I am not fussy about eating fruits and salads. But I drink loads of tea!

SUNIL SHETTY
I breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper. Although I love experimenting with various exotic cuisines, my favourites are Thai and Indian foods. At home, my staple ghar ka khana is dal, roti, rice and fish. I drink a lot of warm water and am a health freak.
