Typhoon Shelter, Bombay

Typhoon Shelter

Typhoon Shelter has unleashed quite a storm with its grand opening in Bombay’s most happening lifestyle hub Skyzone at High Street Phoenix. With a traditional Chinese menu curated by Chef Christian Yang from Hong Kong, it has brought the culture of a typhoon shelter – a safe harbour for boats – on to the plates of Bombay’s foodies.
Staying true to their Chinese roots, the menu has been inspired from the cuisine of Hong Kong reinvented with Chef Yang’s signature flourishes. Packing a punch with an amalgamation of unique flavours, precise techniques and a variety of tastes and textures, the highlights of Typhoon Shelter are Ruby Dumplings, a vegetarian Dim sum in a bright red colour infused purely from beetroot, they say; Succulent Lamb Crystal Ball, with a sheet so thin that the minced meat can be seen through it crystal clear; and Typhoon 8 Pomfret, complimented perfectly with sweet chilli soy.
Desserts at Typhoon Shelter are inspired by the Oriental theme of the restaurant with a surprise twist to each of the unique creations. Among tempting options including Mandarin Orange, a layered cake presented in the shape of an orange; Colour Comb, a tribute to the ornate colour combs that Chinese women wear in their hair; and Luna, a mango sticky rice pudding with a hint of caramel stuffed into a sugar ball. One dessert that you just can’t miss is Zen. This creatively plated dessert with caramel vanilla and hazelnut crunch is shaped liked stones, and served camouflaged among actual stones. As you tap into each on your plate to find the edible ones, you not only enjoy a perfect dessert but also take back a memorable experience. Typhoon Shelter sets you in a Zen space.
