The streets of Anjuna are bustling with more than meets the eye. Restaurants, food trucks, bespoke homestays and uber chic boutique hotels throng this part of what was once a sleepy village. Anamiva is a visual delight with Asian cues mixed with contemporary Indian décor that makes one take notice. This space is filled with art carefully curated by the owner Anita Lamba. A painter by profession, her curated selections casually blend old-world charm with modern panache. Ethnic yet edgy, this multi-levelled Shangri-la has a hidden jewel on the upper levels of the hillock, run by the dynamic Kanishk Lamba and his team of merry folk. Moyo Asian Kitchen & Bar puts one at ease across the multiple levels it encompasses. A mixture of comfortable lounge seating with table setups is flanked to the far corner by an open kitchen, hissing and steaming as visually arresting delights make their way to one’s table. Bangkok Bustle was the signature cocktail recommended to get the mood flowing.
A playful gin infused with Thai green spice syrup, coated with fresh lime juice and cucumber tonic with a naughty slide of Absinthe. Goes swimmingly well with the starters in the Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls – gluten-free with pickled vegetables, avocado, cucumber and herbs, a herbivore's delight. For the old classics, prawn crackers made their way over conversation and fiery sips of the bustle. The Dim sums are visually charming and a ‘must-have’ for one’s 'gram'. Social media will seethe with envy! A work of art lies with the Truffle Edamame Dumplings. These scented fresh soybean mixtures in wheat starch skin beg you to request for seconds. However, do keep space for the mains. The Lobster Tempura with Spicy Mayo is a delicate Japanese-styled crisp lobster battered in tempura flour and served with a spicy mayo dip. Follow through with the Spicy Salmon Uramaki – fresh Scottish salmon, cucumber-laced tempura flakes with togarashi and mayo. Settle post with soul food in a piping hot bowl of Thai Green Curry and gohan – Japanese sticky rice – and allow the serenity of the pool in front to arrest your senses. Sign off with a sweet Chinese street food offering – Darsaan & Vanilla Ice-cream, their interpretation of this classic Asian dessert.
