Thai Chy, Bangalore

Thai Chy is on Double Road, in a not-so-swank quarter of Indiranagar. The interior decorators have made a serious effort to glam it up, with pillars wrapped in gold-flecked prints and images of the Buddha and Chinese dragons on the walls.

The Thai Chy menu is long, with 300-plus dishes, ranging from soup, cold and warm appetisers, momos, Dim sum and baos to stir fries, curries, rice, noodles and dessert. You can start with a cold appetiser such as the Raw Mango Salad, a tangy, sweet and sour dish with the freshness of herbs. The Crispy Bamboo Shoot and Water Chestnut, enlivened with a chilli lemon grass topping, is equally delicious and a hit with vegetarians.

Also on the cold appetiser menu are fabulous Duck Rolls. The pancakes are soft, the meat, tender and the sauce, just right. The Crispy Prawn Cheung Fun, the rolled Dim sum, is another star on the menu. The Ikan Pepes is fish slathered with a Balinese spice mix, wrapped in a banana leaf and griddle cooked.

Next, move on to stir fries and curries. There's Deepfried Sea Bass topped with
chilli, lime leaves and basil if you want something with a sweet note. The Thai Red Curry is pleasant enough, eaten with plain rice. There's a vast array of noodles and fried rice as well.

For dessert, there was the predictable Tub Tim Krob, nicely done and presented here, besides Coconut Panna Cotta and more.

Most dishes are superbly executed here at Thai Chy and the price is another attraction here.
