Reckoned to be one of the best Thai chefs, Nooror is known as the ambassador of Thai cuisine, taking it across to innumerable countries since over four decades
As the founder of The Blue Elephant group, with restaurants in several countries, starting from the first in Brussels, she has played a significant role in promoting Thai cuisine internationally for over 40 years. During her recent visit to India, she served an impressive spread at The President, where UpperCrust sampled her cooking and spent time in her delightful company.
With restaurants in Bangkok, Phuket, Malta, Paris, Brussels, Copenhagen, Chef Nooror’s culinary offerings extend beyond Thailand, but her restaurant in Bangkok has drawn former Prime Minister of UK David Cameron and Queen Mathilde of Belgium too, to dine at the best of Thailand.
“I am proud of my Thai Heritage. Each dish has its own history and I love creating as much as exploring the King’s Palace recipes of different eras!” says the masterchef who is inspired by her mother’s vast knowledge of fresh, fragrant curries such as her famous heirloom massaman curry paste.
An enterprising woman, Chef Nooror ventured into other activities all under the umbrella of Blue Elephant, including culinary schools, a trade office for fresh Thai ingredients and a retail line for Thai products and easy cooking sets. But at her core, she is a chef, a brilliant one at that. Her colleagues say she has maternal instincts; she loves to cook and loves to feed.
